Baron BMW invites you to understand why your car or truck air conditioning is not cooling correctly.
Your vehicle’s AC is not working because of a bad compressor or a freon leak. Though these causes may be the simple to spot reasons that the air-conditioning isn’t working inside your car, a dirty cabin filter or a bad belt could also be the problem. Regardless of how or why it can be super disappointing when ice-cold air isn’t there to combat hot weather. Don’t get in a panic, because our experienced auto technicians know what to spot and are there to cool off your interior before the first heat wave arrives.
The most likely reason the AC isn’t working is because your car’s AC started leaking. The car’s air-conditioning unit uses freon to lower the ambient air temperature which produces needed cold air. Whenever there is a freon leak on your car there is no way to cool the air. Another source for your AC not blowing cold air is that the car is a hybrid. The AC system is powered by the engine, meaning your AC won’t be receiving power if your vehicle is in EV mode and the engine isn’t running.
If your AC is on and the fan stopped working then there might be a blown air-conditioner fuse. Fuses protect components of a car from a possible power surge and while it might just need to get replaced, if the air-conditioner fuse keeps popping then it’s possible there’s a much larger problem at hand. There’s also a chance that the vehicle’s AC Compressor is affected by a low level of AC refrigerant or a possible leak that has to be looked at.
If you’ve seen some damp spots in or around your car recently, that could be a result of an air-conditioner leak in your vehicle. When your AC is producing cold air inside your car, it has to displace all the moisture it absorbs from outside and should go down the evaporator drain. Another cause might be the AC Refrigerant amount being too low which leads to the evaporator coils freezing up and an overflow of condensation. You should also keep a lookout for faulty seals in the air-conditioner compartment or the AC’s air filters in case this issue continues to occur.
