Here at Baron BMW, we are proud to call the Merriam community our home. Those who live here know that our community is full of kind and giving people, and we consider it a privilege to serve them at our dealership. But friendly sales and service is just one way that we serve the local residents from our home in Merriam to neighboring areas like Shawnee and Leawood. What really gets us excited is getting involved with our community on a personal level, through community outreach, charity events, and more.
Whether it’s working with local charities or hosting dealership events that are fun for all ages, nothing brings us more joy than getting involved and giving back. As a Group 1 Automotive dealership, we value being an active part of the community in Merriam.
If our community and its people are impacted by a natural disaster, we consider it our duty to help with relief efforts. Throughout the year, we organize to give back to those who shape our city and help make it great, including our schools and educators, medical personnel, food banks, police, and more. And everyone needs to have fun now and then, so we love to host dealership events for families and pets when we can!
Baron Cares: Giving Back to the Kansas City Community
At Baron BMW, we’ve always believed that being a great dealership means being a great neighbor. That belief is the foundation of Baron Cares — our ongoing commitment to spotlighting and supporting the people and organizations who make Kansas City a better place to live. Since launching in 2022 in partnership with FOX 4’s Great Day Kansas City, Baron Cares has grown into one of the most meaningful things we do as a team.
We don’t just sell cars. We live here. We raise our families here. And we show up — not just on the lot, but in the community we’re proud to call home.
Baron BMW has teamed up with FOX 4 to give back to those who have impacted the Kansas City area through the Baron Cares segment on Great Day KC. Each spotlight features a deserving individual or organization making a real difference — and every winner is treated with a delicious Breakfast on Baron. It’s our small way of saying thank you to the people who give so much of themselves to others.
Want to pay it forward? Anyone can nominate a deserving person or group at Fox4KC.com/baroncares.
One of the causes closest to our hearts is Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer — a Kansas City nonprofit on a mission to fund life-saving research so that no family ever has to hear the words “no known cure.” Braden’s Hope has granted over $8 million toward research and is impacting up to 4,000 children each year, supporting inter-institutional research at Children’s Mercy Hospital, KU Cancer Center, and the Stowers Institute. Baron BMW is proud to champion their mission and help deliver hope, one child at a time.
Teen mental health is one of the most important — and often most overlooked — issues facing our community. That’s why Baron BMW is proud to support You Matter Archie — a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness, founded by Kristie Morton after losing her son Archie. Through monthly You Matter Week initiatives, school programs, community events, and safe chill rooms, they ensure every student receives a message of hope, worth, and strength. Baron BMW is honored to stand behind their work and remind every young person: you matter.
Shawnee Community Services is a local food pantry and free clothing resource that has been serving the entire KC metro since 1982. Baron Cares went inside their doors to learn more about their work and shine a light on this essential community lifeline that has quietly served families in need for decades. Their commitment to dignifying those who need help most is something we deeply admire.
MPI Kansas City has established anti-human trafficking initiatives to bring awareness and education to the meeting and events industry in Kansas City, partnering with ReHope — a local nonprofit that provides housing, treatment, and services to victims of human trafficking. Baron Cares was proud to spotlight both organizations and help share their vital work with the broader Kansas City community.
Geeks for Kids builds custom electric cars for children who cannot get around on their own — giving mobility, independence, and joy to kids who need it most. This remarkable group was featured in a Baron Cares spotlight, and their ingenuity and heart are exactly the kind of community spirit we love to celebrate.
Baron Cares has also honored everyday heroes like Sally Nadler of Nadler’s Meats & Catering, who along with her late husband Glen, started an annual veterans dinner for veterans and their families in Lafayette County. Stories like Sally’s remind us that community impact doesn’t always come from big organizations — sometimes it’s one family, one table, and one act of love at a time.
Baron BMW sponsored Project Roadblock — a joint effort between the Ad Council and NHTSA to run public safety announcements during the holiday season, when alcohol-impaired driving accounts for nearly one-third of motor vehicle crash fatalities. Because caring for our community means keeping everyone safely on the road.
Community involvement isn’t a one-time event for us — it’s woven into who we are at Baron BMW. If you know someone in the Kansas City area who deserves to be recognized, nominate them for a Baron Cares spotlight at Fox4KC.com/baroncares. And if you’d like to connect with us about a cause close to your heart, we’d love to hear from you. Fill out the form below — let’s talk about how we can make Kansas City an even better place to live.
